On December 26, 2004 , a tsunami caused by a undersea earthquake hits countries around the Indian Ocean
The tsunami killed more than 155,000 people in total. The tsunami was caused by an undersea earthquake below the Indian Ocean, which was caused because a earth plate was subducting under another one. The tsunami traveled from its epicenter to the shores at a pace of 300 mph. It affected more than 15 countries. The lack of an emergency warning system is what made this disaster worse, as even just a warning could of helped thousands people to go away from the area they were in.
